The Moroccan-born Sofia Pernas moved to California when she was 5 years old and grew up in Orange County. She received her big break acting upon graduation from the University of California San Diego, in 2015. Pernas she had appeared in brief appearances on NCIS and Leverage prior to landing the part of Marisa in The Young and the Restless she was a well-known name on the soap. The actress, who left this soap at the end of 2016 was cast in the role as Catalina who is a regular character on Jane the Virgin.
